All-Women's Paddle For Empowerment Coming To Tahoe

The Butterfly Effect, a non-‐competitive aloha watersports event for women started in Maui, Hawaii, is hosting its first ever event on the Mainland. The Butterfly Effect Tahoe will be held September 6, 2014 at the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area.

The Butterfly Effect is a non-‐competitive aloha watersports event for women. The one-‐day event mission is to empower and inspire women in sports and to use the opportunity as a group to give back to local charities. The program creates an environment that gives participants the confidence to achieve a goal in a supportive group setting.

The actual paddle event will consist of a paddle ranging from 1 to 4 miles, depending on ability levels of participants. Women will have the option to use any sort of "woman powered" paddle vessel such as kayaks, canoes, and standup paddleboards. The event will continue with an Aloha theme beach cleanup and festival. There will be clinics on land and on water plus yoga, music, dancing, local food, raffle prizes, fashion show, photo booth fun and more.

The event includes multiple sports and all experience levels. Women that paddle, windsurf, kite, kayak or swim...beginners, local shredders, or pros. The 'BE' motto is "we’re all in it, but not to win it!"

Registration for The Butterfly Effect Tahoe is now open. The first 100 participants to register online will receive an event lycra rashguard and goody bag. For more information and to register online, please visit: www.betheeffect.com/tahoe-‐event-‐day.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Soroptimist International of Truckee-‐Donner, a volunteer service organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Tatiana Howard, a professional water woman born and raised on Maui, founded the program and spreads her passion across the globe. “Water sports have empowered and inspired me to live out my hopes and dreams, and giving back to surf communities is a passion I wish to share with many,” said Howard.

The Butterfly Effect branches from 'Be The Effect Foundation' whose mission is to activate awareness of our individual impact on the world, using collective drive to give back to local charities while encouraging a healthy lifestyle, a vibrant community and active local involvement.

BE Camps and Trips are the latest edition to Be The Effect Foundation which offers international adventures to women of all ages, levels and experience. These camps and trips travel around the globe allowing the “Butterflies” to meet new friends and learn new sports, languages and cultures. The camps are hosted by local tour guides and coached in watersports by different professionals. Since its first small windsurfing event in 2007, the Butterfly Effect has evolved into a worldwide movement. Over the years it has sponsored 26 different non-‐competitive events and workshops in 10 countries, with thousands of participants. It continues to sponsor several events all over the world every year. Be The Effect Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
