IRONMAN Lake Tahoe, taking place Sunday, Sept. 20th, will include a number of traffic impacts around the Truckee - North Lake Tahoe area. The following information and maps have been culled from available official sources to give you a general idea of what to expect in the way of traffic delays, road closures, and detours.

Sunday September 20th IRONMAN Road Closure, Detour and Traffic Information

Please be advised of the following information regarding the IRONMAN Lake Tahoe event scheduled for Sunday, September 20th. SEE RELATED MAPS & GRAPHICS  BELOW.

• Highway 28 in Kings Beach will be closed from Fox Street to Hwy 267 from 5:00am to 10:00 am ONLY.  Highway 28 in this section will open to two-way traffic BOTH east and west bound after 10:00 am.
• The Kings Beach detour around the event start location will run between Fox Street to Speckled to Hwy 267 during the event for local and through traffic.
• Highway 28 will be open in BOTH directions between Hwy 267 in Kings Beach and Tahoe City ALL DAY LONG - however, please expect delays and drive with caution at event participants will be on the road.
• Highway 89 North bound ONLY will be closed from Fairway Drive in Tahoe City to Palisades Tahoe Road from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
• Highway 267 South bound ONLY will be closed from Northstar Drive to Kingswood/Commonwealth Drive from 8:30  am to 4:30 pm. 
• Donner Pass Road and areas around Truckee will be closed at various times - please see maps and links for details.
• Various side streets will be closed to traffic, however alternative routes will be provided. 

Please be advised that traffic may flow at slower than normal speeds at times during the day and throughout the event locations.  Please be aware of cyclists on the route and use caution when passing.  California Highway Patrol and Placer County Sheriff will be on the course managing the flow of vehicle traffic.
