Squaw Hosts Annual Cushing Crossing Sat. April 12

The 24th Annual Lake Cushing Crossing returns to Palisades Tahoe Saturday, April 12 with all the usual antics and spectacle as participants attempt to cross the chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard or any ski or snowboard-based vessel including ultra-creative pond skimming contraptions and hilarious costumes.

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 8, 2014 – The 24th Annual Lake Cushing Crossing returns to Palisades Tahoe Saturday, April 12. The acclaimed pond skimming event challenges participants to cross the chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard or any ski or snowboard-based vessel - resulting in colossal crashes, ultra-creative pond skimming contraptions and hilarious costumes.

This year’s Lake Cushing Crossing kicks off at 1 p.m. at Cushing Pond, located adjacent to the base of KT22 chairlift, the KT Base Bar and the Olympic House.

The competition is limited to the first 50 registrants. Participants can register on the day of the event at KT Base Bar. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and is $20 per competitor. Competitors are required to wear a life preserver and helmet. An early-arrival for registration is recommended, as the event fills up quickly.

Men’s Ski: GoPro, Oakley Sunglasses & $100
Women’s Ski: GoPro, Oakley Sunglasses & $100
Men’s Snowboard: GoPro, Oakley Sunglasses & $100
Women’s Snowboard: GoPro, Oakley Sunglasses & $100
Unlimited (non-ski/snowboard sliding device): GoPro, Oakley Sunglasses & $100

In addition to the legendary pond skimming event, this weekend boasts an incredible lineup of spring fun at Palisades Tahoe with the annual Season Passholder Party, a mountaintop hot tub at High Camp, great spring ski conditions, sunny skies in the forecast, and live music at the KT Base Bar.
