Tahoe's Only Fishing Derby Coming June 3rd

The 19th Annual Jake's Charity Fishing Derby, the only derby on Lake Tahoe, will take place on Sunday, June 3rd as anglers from around the region try to reel in over $1500 in prize money.

Tahoe Weather: Partly Sunny, Breezy

Cooler temperatures, partly sunny skies and increasing afternoon winds Thursday as a weak system crosses the region. Daytime lakeside highs will be in the low 60s. Afternoon winds of 15-20 mph could gust to 30 mph. Conditions are critical for fire danger in western Nevada and a Red Flag Warning is in effect. Dry and warmer conditions return for the weekend.

Tahoe Donner Driving Range Open

The Tahoe Donner Driving Range is is now open for the season. Weather and conditions permitting, the golf course will open on Friday, May 18. A mild winter has paved the way for early spring golf in the high Sierra, and enabled staff to open the course one month earlier than 2011.

Tahoe Area Campground Fees Set to Rise

The U.S. Forest Service announced today that due to increased costs of doing business, fees at campgrounds operated by California Land Management (CLM) on National Forest System lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin will rise by $2 this season.

Volunteer Docents Needed for Environmental Education at Tahoe

Do you love Lake Tahoe and have an interest in learning more about the lake? Do you enjoy science, learning new information, and sharing your knowledge? Residents who would like to help people learn about the region's environmental assets and challenges are needed to serve as volunteer docents at the Thomas J. Long Foundation Education Center and the UC Davis Eriksson Education Center. Located in Incline Village and Tahoe City respectively, the two UC Davis education centers are well positioned along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
