2011 Lake Cushing Crossing Wows Thousands

The 2011 Lake Cushing Crossing held at Palisades Tahoe USA on July 3rd drew thousands of spectators and delivered exceptional action, spills, and laughs as promised.

The first time the event was ever held in summer on July 4th weekend proved to be a perfect fit as the ideal and hot weather combined with numerous events drew thousands to the shore of Lake Cushing at the base of the mountain.

In contrast with most years when the event is held in the late spring and the weather can be wintery or at least cooler, the 21st annual Crossing had warmer water, clear skies and temperatures in the low 80s.

Over fifty competitors donned all manner of craft and costumery and thrilled the crowd with their attempts to cross the pond and score the highest points. participants were judged on costume, degree of flair, and crossing by a panel of local notables including Palisades Tahoe's new CEO, Andy Wirth.

Congratulations to this year's winners!
