Julia Mancuso, a gold medalist in 2006, and now two-time silver medalist in the 2010 Winter Games, has donated $10,000 to the Truckee-Tahoe Unified School District's physical education programs.

The funding has apparently come from a gift from Procter & Gamble, a major sponsor of the US Ski Team.

As noted in a Twitter post Tuesday morning, Julia said "The word is out. Thanks to P&G I was able to donate 10K to Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District's physical education program!"

Julia, who great up in Lake Tahoe, trained as a competitive ski racer in Palisades Tahoe's Mighty Mites program. Following her gold medal in 2006 had a ski run at Palisades Tahoe named "Julia's Gold".

Julia's giving spree continues. This week she has also announced her participation in a breast cancer benefit that will include her stand-up paddleboarding 40 miles from Catalina Island to Dana Point in Southern California.
