A 24 year-old from Rhode Island, running the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico to raise funds to support Parkinson's research and attempting to break the PCT speed record, will pass by Lake Tahoe in the coming week.

Sam Fox is currently on pace to complete the entire 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail in 63 days which would break the previous record of 65 days and 10 hours.

Fox has undertaken this ultra-endurance event in hopes of raising $250,000 to support Parkison’s research. His mother, Lucy Fox, was diagnosed with Parkison’s Disease more than a decade ago. To date, his nascent non-profit organization, called Run While You Can, has raised over $100,000 and engaged thousands of followers.

Fox has already traversed more than 1200 miles and passed from Oregon into California last week. As of this story, he's located south of Mt. Shasta, headed for his next checkpoint in Burney, CA. He has approximately 1500 miles to go and is shooting to arrive Donner Pass on Friday, September 30th.

Well-wishers and supports are encouraged to follow his journey online (www.runwhileyoucan.org) and to come cheer him on when he crosses Interstate 80 on Donner Summit.
