(Originally published 3/26/09) Shane McConkey, skiing legend and well-known Squaw Valley local, was killed Thursday in a ski-BASE jumping accident in the Italian Dolomites.
As reported by ESPN Thursday afternoon, McConkey was killed during a filming expedition with MSP Productions, as he attempted a ski-BASE jump during which deployment of his parachute was delayed after a ski-release malfunction.
