SVI Presents Joint Replacement Expert Kevin Stone

Dr. Kevin Stone

Palisades Tahoe Institute (SVI) continues their Alchemist Speaker Series with special guest Dr. Kevin Stone, an orthopedic surgeon who will discuss the future of bio-joint repair and replacement in athletes on Friday, December 5th at PlumpJack Palisades Tahoe Inn.

Orthopedic surgeon Kevin Stone knows mobility means more than just where you go -- it's the foundation for a fulfilling daily life. (True whether you're an athlete or not.)   Kevin Stone treats joint injury using the latest in bio-medicine: reconstructing damaged tissue, even replacing whole joint parts, with lab-grown cartilage and ligament.

Stone is the founder of The Stone Research Foundation, an independent body investigating new technologies, treatments and possibilities for joint health, arthritis and human performance. The Stone Clinic specializes in biologic repairs to knee injuries of all kinds - from the torn meniscus to knee replacements - and most everything in between.  Arthritis and injury grind down millions of joints, but few get the best remedy - real biological tissue.

“We regenerate and rebuild, rather than replace with metals and plastics," says Stone. "We take a biologic approach to treating joint injuries and arthritis, preserving as much of the natural biology of the joint as possible, often rebuilding with donor tissue, in order to avoid or delay a joint replacement."

As a pioneer in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Stone uses stem cells and growth factors to help rebuild joints naturally. "The goal isn't just to get someone back on the slopes," insists Dr. Stone. "The goal is to have that person heal their mind and their body and come back fitter than they were before they got hurt."

Dr. Stone will share insights on how to avoid bone on bone cartilage damage, how to repair it if you already have it and how to prevent injuries.

The presentation takes place at PlumpJack Palisades Tahoe Inn on December 5, 2014, at 6:30 p.m.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host bar reception. Palisades Tahoe Institute members are always admitted free. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.  Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved at www.squawvalleyinstitute.org.
